OSLO – Tansa Systems AS today announced that Portuguese has been added to the expanding list of supported languages within their advanced text proofing system. Along with English, Dutch, French, German, Spanish, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian and their numerous varieties, Portuguese marks the tenth primary language offered in the system.
“Our algorithms and highly customized dictionaries provide the most accurate proofing results in the industry,” said Morten Kroto, Tansa’s Managing Director. “We believe Tansa will be an invaluable tool for news producers and corporations generating content in Portuguese.”
Tansa’s software developers and Language Editors have been working for more than a year to incorporate Portuguese, along with other languages which are scheduled to launch next year.
More than 800 publishers and corporations around the world use Tansa to reduce errors and streamline their editing process. The server-based system allows writers, Web producers and page designers to proof their content against a centralized proofing engine. This ensures the writing and style guidelines of the organization are enforced anywhere content is being created.
Unlike other spell-checkers, Tansa scans content in phrases, making it capable of checking not only the spelling of words, but also the usage and the style of writing. This is accomplished by checking the content against a lexicon database, reference lists and a set of style rules which are customized for each customer.
